“Community vs. Sacred Community” calls the church to move from casual connection to intentional, face-to-face discipleship in very small groups of two to four. The pastor set a clear aim for the season: raise the temperature of evangelism and discipleship, because isolation, gossip, slander, and chronic complaint are tearing at unity. Drawing from Matthew 18:20, Ecclesiastes 4:9–12, and 1 John 1:5–7, he taught that when people gather in Jesus’ name with purpose, God’s presence meets them and unity becomes the blessing. Sacred community looks like weekly gatherings that worship, open Scripture, ask “How is it with your soul,” pray, encourage, and hold one another accountable with confidentiality and kindness. True community grows mostly outside Sunday, in meals shared, needs met, and practical service. The church is forming an evangelism team and a discipleship team with facilitator training so these groups stay healthy and focused. The invitation is simple and costly. We will gather more often, own our stuff when we hurt each other, keep our love on, and pursue unity with the Trinity and with one another. This is part one of a longer journey that will include a Jonah series and more teaching on what sacred community looks like in real life.
